Dementia
With aging, some changes in memory, thinking and behavior can be seen. However, if these changes begin to affect daily life, this may indicate the beginning of the dementia process.
Dementia is the general name for diseases that cause a person to lose their memory, thinking, behavior and ability to perform daily activities, and that cause forgetfulness.
Alzheimer's
The most common type of dementia. It is a progressive brain disease that progresses with the deterioration of brain cells and functions. It accounts for 60-80% of dementia cases worldwide.
Every Alzheimer's patient is faced with dementia; however, not every dementia patient is an Alzheimer's patient. In other words, while dementia is a broad umbrella concept, Alzheimer's is a specific disease under this umbrella.
Parkinson's
It is a slowly progressing and progressive nervous system disease that occurs when the substance called dopamine decreases in the areas of the brain that control movements. Although it is seen in individuals over the age of 60, it can also start at a younger age. It is a disease that progresses over time and although it cannot be completely eliminated with treatment, the symptoms can be controlled. The aim of treatment is to improve the patient's quality of life.
